Are you tired of technology "vaporware?" So are we. Viallo believes you deserve to know |

Viallo Battles the "Frowny Five" Frowny 1- Vaporware :( A lot of web services and creative agencies are quick to say "we do that" in the boardroom, then scramble for the latest book about how to do what they promised was their expertise. The result is projects that take too long, cost too much, and ultimately miss the mark. Viallo answers :) Viallo services are real. Before we say we can do something, we've either extensively developed and tested the service, or provided it many times before. If we haven't, we'll tell you and either arrange a special agreement for partnering with us to develop a new technology or application, or introduce you to a proven service provider with the right experience for your requirements. Frowny 2- Overpromising & Underdelivering :( Our business requires us to work with a lot of software vendors. We won't mention any names. Ok, they rhyme with Pikerosoft, Sackromedia, and Mudobe, and let's be honest, they still don't get it. By now, we're all desensitized to their promises that software can change the world. We just wish they'd give us smooth-running, usable software that does what they say it will do. Likewise, a lot of web services firms overdramatize the positive impacts of the solution they're delivering, while understating project timelines, resources and budgets. In short, "We can change the world in three weeks for fifty thousand dollars. We'll use offshore developers, no problem!" Viallo answers :) We're battle-tested realists at Viallo, optimistic about our capabilities because we have a lot of successful projects under our belts. We understand our role: deliver insight, ideas, and websites that do what your customers expect them to do. We do this by collaborating closely with you to establish goals, expectations, and success metrics, then delivering to promise. Frowny 3- Worthless Whiz-Bang :( Internet technologies can do a lot of cool stuff. Unfortunately, many new innovations do little to enhance website user experience. Millions of dollars are spent every year on "splash pages," animations, kooky navigation, and floating this or that, padding developers' pockets but frustrating users. Viallo answers :) We deliver creative solutions, designs, and functionality in a very focused context: to solve a problem or create an opportunity for our client. We'll continue to encourage our clients to invest in core functions that deliver real value to their users. Dynamic databases drive most valuable solutions, while we pursue interface design innovations that simply provide the easiest path to the goal. Frowny 4- Poor Communication :( Website projects involve a variety of personality types, working in a variety of capacities, over myriad communication channels. Some people only communicate with email, some prefer IM, phone, conference calls, face time, voicemail, fax, or smoke signals. Have you ever called a co-worker to confirm he or she received your email? With so many ways to communicate and exchange project deliverables, web projects often lose momentum, focus, and ultimate effectiveness. Viallo answers :) Viallo creates a communications plan for every project, collaborating with clients from the start to determine the best way to involve key people, the best methods for communication, and the best mechanisms to track project milestones and develop deliverables. We strike a successful balance between inundation and isolation, so your organization is an integrated part of the entire process while allowing you continued focus on your business. Frowny 5- Techie Mumbo-Jumbo :( Alphabet soup is yummy at lunchtime, but it's confusing and boring in a conversation. Techno-speak may establish that one person knows more about SSL, SQL, or SOAP than the other person, but it does little to help a client understand how a website can improve his or her business performance. Viallo answers :) We live by an internal commandment: speak in English. Our technology expertise is a result of a passion, not a God-given superiority. You're an expert in your business, we're experts in ours. It's our job to reach out from our technology world and apply our knowledge to your goals, in your language. No hiding behind the technology. The true sign of an expert is that he or she can easily explain a complex thing in a simple way. That's our goal. Back to Top ^ |
